I only recently discovered this artist only to realize she has been around for a very long time, be it solo or be it as part of the world-fusion group Ajoyo.

Sarah is a gifted singer and composer, who surrounds herself by equally talented musicians wich form her backing band, also called Scope.

The songs are in the vein of art-rock, like Kate Bush, Bjork or Susanne Sundford. Mostly the music leans towards electropop, but more in the intelligent form. There are some elements of fusion and folk, but mostly it is art-pop.

The voice of Sarah reminds me sometimes of Sade, wich is a compliment. Sometimes Sarah decides to multitrack her own vocals, wich (with the instrumentation) makes the whole album sound a bit over-produced here and there. There is absolutely nothing raw about this album and artist.

But it works very well and in the end is mostly a beautiful and moving album, to be played loudly on headphones.

Most of the songs are composed by Sarah herself, except for one Max Roach-original and one collaborative song with famous trumpettist Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah. My favorites on this album are the more progressive songs like Borders and Black Canvas.
