Cornetist Johnny De Droit's band like that of Celastin, was much in demand for society functions around New Orleans in the 1920s. Here the band gives a brilliant rendition of Eccentric Rag. De Droit was a master at the use of the mute. The band includes two reeds (clt / alto ), this was usual in N.O. at that time. Recorded in N.O. in 1924 this is an example of one of the great bands that stayed in the crescent city when many others left for New York and Chicago.
