A delightful vignette, so laid back that Krebs' vocals make Julie London sound like Big Mama Thornton. The voice, almost a whisper, winds its way around your emotions. Soft and sensuous with each word as meaningful as the lyricist's intent - maybe more so given Kreb's reading of the words. Words and phrases with an effective emphasis on spaces. It's an album for late nights in - with a drink or a partner or both. In time, it may well be filed alongside Wee Small Hours, Black Coffee and other post-midnight classics. In the meantime, congratulate yourself on having got in on the ground floor.
Bassist Wild boasts a strong studio pedigree having been the centre-back on many film and TV soundtracks as well as recording and appearing live with, among others, James Moody, Terence Blanchard, Dianne Reeves and Natalie Cole. Rizzo too has an impressive roster of credits including Blood, Sweat
