Signe Bisgaard is a young danish composer and pianist. She has been awarded several composer grants and her music has been performed internationally at jazzfestivals and jazzclubs in Europe, including Denmark, Germany, Norway, Czech Republic and the Netherlands.
Signe holds the highest education in composition, the Advanced Postgraduate Diploma in Rhytmic Composition. Besides composing she also conducts larger ensembles and bigband. As a bandleader she has formed +Bisgaard, an orchestra of 11 dedicated musicians playing her music, including Norwegian percussionist Helge Norbakken and Danish tenorsax-player Christian Vuust. The orchestra integrates jazz and new classical music, and also includes classical violinist Panagiota Zagoura from Greece and Danish cellist Dorte Rolff-Petersen. In addition Signe is leader and co-leader of various other groups, amongst others Pierette Ensemble.
