PRIMITIVE ARTS ORCHESTRA picture
The newest addition to the Playwright stable is Primitive Art Orchestra, a piano trio with Iori Kimura (bohemianvoodoo) on piano, Kohei Morita on bass and Takao Ito (TRI4TH) on drums. Helix is the title of their slickly packaged debut album and features nine original compositions. As with most releases on Playwright it’s jazz with a twist, and many of the tunes here are atmospheric anthems with strong melodies that have a slight soundtrack feel to them. Tunes to watch out for include Blue Mist, Shrine, Helix and Smokers’ Forest. An impressive debut -- Primitive Art Orchestra are an act to watch.
