Guitarist Jeff McLaughlin creates music filled with passion, depth, and a progressive spirit. His playing is both steeped in tradition and focused on new directions in jazz. He seeks to push the music forward while paying tribute the past.
In 2010 he won the inaugural Owl Studios Emerging Jazz Artist Project competition. As a part of the award, he signed with Owl Studios to record and promote an album of original music. The result of this project, The Jeff McLaughlin Quartet album Blocks, will be released on July 12, 2011 and the group is slated to perform at the 2011 Indianapolis Jazz Festival.
Jeff is currently an Associate Instructor in the Jazz Studies Department at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music where he has directed the Jazz Ensemble IV, coached combos, presented lectures in jazz pedagogy and history, and taught applied jazz guitar lessons.
