Doug Lucas was a musical progressive of the jazz-funk psych era of the 60s and 70s, a creative period many have called the most fearless and creatively satisfying. A composer and founding member of the JJ Band, S.S.O. Orchestra and Plus, Doug was also a significant contributor to two of the most critically acclaimed jazz-funk crossover acts of the day: Chakachas and Mombasa. Today, the original LPs recorded by Doug and these bands are some of the most sought after records in the vinyl marketplace. DJs and producers from around the world recognize the extraordinary musicianship found in these rare recordings. And, some of the most respected MCs in the game, including Nas and Busta Rhymes, have made commercial singles from sampling Doug’s music.
