ille-based quartet formed in 2002 from the collective Zoone Libre, Arsis offers an original repertoire where writing and free improvisation meet. A sound and a rock energy carried by a rhythmic impulse borrowed from jazz, and shaken by collective and spontaneous improvisations.
The sound universe developed in the compositions is in perpetual movement. These compositions are rather scenarios in which the collective memory of the group but also those of each musician are summoned; spaces of exchanges, of setting in abyss of sound memories, musical gestures, attempt of emancipation of a living language.
From the pure vocal line of a solo to the thick and rough texture where acoustic and electric merge, it is with the same breath that these four musicians sculpt the sound material.
