To the majority of Russian music fans, Andrei Makarevich is mostly known as the front man of the veteran band Mashina Vremeni (Time Machine), which has been around for more than 40 years.
But each band’s career has its high and lows. And it would be naive to expect Mashina Vremeni to have the same impact these days as it had 25 or so years ago. They still have a sizeable fan base – mostly composed by people who are in their 40s and 50s – but haven’t really recorded anything impressive for years.
And while Mashina remains a respected – and profitable – brand, for the last 15 years or so Makarevich has been spending more time pursuing other interests.
