Chick Corea, and one of the best jazz banjo players ever, Bela Fleck, collaborated on both musicians releases few times before, but The Enchantment is first their album, where they play as duo.

From very first moments ("Señorita" is great Corea's opener in his Latin style of early 70s) album's music attracts by its liveness and excellent mood:during last years Corea became too much chamber jazz pianist and such atmosphere is more characteristic for his earlier works.

All but one compositions are originals (written roughly 50/50 between Corea and Fleck and you always can say which composition is Corea's and which - Fleck's).Bela Fleck plays his usual banjo, with strong country and bluegrass flavor. All album sounds as return (at least for Corea) to earlier times of Latin jazz (seriously scented by Fleck's Americana though)with playful melodies, hotter rhythms,much more emotional musicianship.... But luckily music doesn't sound dated or vintage (if slightly nostalgic) at all.

Possibly, what I missed on this album is richer orchestration, deep bass, drums,etc. Fully acoustic duo of just piano and banjo sounds good, but played by full band the music could become even more attractive.
