You won't find much "jazz" on here but this is a great '80's R&B/funk/dance record. Sampled many times by many hip hoppers, there are beats to spare, spirit to burn, and Mtume and crew show unique creativity for an album produced during this time period. The highlight is the hit title track, but the material is uniformly strong.

If you're going to have an '80's dance party, skip the Prince clones and spin this record with your Trouble Funk, Midnight Star, Twilight, and Kid Creole and the Coconuts discs. The cover art is ultra cheesy and so is the music, but isn't that part of the fun?
