'Cont De L'incroyable Amour' , Anouar Brahem's second album released by ECM in 1992 continues the musical line of 'Barzakh', his excellent debut album. For this album Anouar Brahem invited besides Lassad Hosni on percussion(who played also on 'Barzakh') , Turkish musicians Barbaros Erköse( an exponent of Romani gipsy music) on clarinet and Kudsi Erguner ( Sufi tradition) on nai. Compared to 'Barzakh', we get more improvisation, the music sources are expanded to Turkish and other mediteranean influences , like 'Barzakh' this album is rather solo focused( six of the nine tracks) , the music has the same quiet, contemplative mood. My favourite tracks of the album are the title track which is one of Brahem's best compositions and Nayzak. Selected by 'Le Monde' as one of the best records of 1992, 'Cont de L'Incroyable Amour' is a beautiful album which might be not to everyone's taste, like 'Barzakh' recommended especially for fans of world world music and North African instrumentation and rhytms.
