Joab Augusto Moreira (who holds a BA of Saxophone from FAMOSP) began his musical studies with his family before extending it to the city’s music school and other educational institutions. In his youth he participated in several international summer festivals in Brasilia and has since dedicated his career to instrumental music, developed his playing in various settings: big bands, brass bands and jazz instrumental groups, along with freelance work and recording sessions with artists operating in the Brazilian music scene.
On top of this he has also led workshops and played various jazz and blues festivals. In 2000 his quartet recorded the CD ‘IQ’ after a great season of shows in his hometown. In 2002, Augusto expanded his musical career while working in Sao Paulo. In 2005 his he led the project ‘A Tribute to John Coltrane at All of Joab Augusto Jazz Quartet.’
