Born and raised in Rome, Andrea Biondi studied percussion with Horacio Hernandez. He pursued a classical education in percussion instruments, graduating with honours and special mention at the Conservatory of Music “A. Casella” in l’Aquila. He has attended two seminars on interpretation in contemporary music at the “Cantiere Internazionale d’Arte di Montepulciano”, two seminars on interpretation and improvisation for vibraphone and marimba with David Friedman, and an improvisation seminar with Danilo Rea, Maurizio Giammarco and Mike Manieri. He has studied vibraphone and improvisation with Andrea Dulbecco and David Friedman, piano and harmony with Massimo Fedeli, and music arrangement with Marco Tiso. In 2000, he was awarded second prize at the International Festival of Jazz Music in Colleferro. From 1996 to 2006, he was closely involved with symphony orchestras (Youth Orchestra of London, Vatican Orchestra, Santa Cecilia Conservatory), and also worked as a recording session musician (Ennio Morricone, Nicola Piovani, Louis Bacalov, Armando Trovajoli, C. Consoli)
