Warthur
Hardcore Jollies sees Funkadelic giving centre stage to the guitarists in their lineup - featuring the talents of no less than four guitarists (Michael Hampton, Eddie Hazel, Gary Shider and Glen Goins), the album puts their contributions at front and centre. Funkadelic had, of course, always been more centred around guitars and borrowings from psychedelia and hard rock than Parliament had, but in this case it seems George Clinton wanted to emphasise that, perhaps to further distinguish the two halves of the P-Funk collective. Still, I'm hardly going to complain - the album contains some of the best guitar work on any Funkadelic album. It's no Maggot Brain, but then again nothing is...
