I started the Dogg Mansion concept nearly thirty years ago in the late Eighties with a handful of my favorite Orlando players, featuring a horn section I played and recorded with regularly. In fact, playing together was our main gig, so we got to know each other musically as well as personally.
We all felt that music is Life and should be its own presentation, not background for some product or event, or a soundtrack for some movie we aren't in. Though I wrote and arranged all the charts, I never told the guys HOW to play them. (unless they asked) only that they sound like themselves, that they were the interpreters and we were always like minded in our approach to the collective whole of the band.
