Dave began playing the piano by ear at the age of three, or so he was told. He studied classical piano initially followed by private tutelage in music theory during his high school years. He formed a band, gravitating full time to the jazz idiom during his college years. Soon after his move from New York to San Francisco he met percussionist Bill Belasco and the two have been inseparable musically ever since. Duirng the past decade the trio has been graced by the presence of, and inspired by, renowned bassist Mario Suraci.
Away from the piano, Dave practices law. He is a partner in the San Francisco law firm Hanson Bridgett, where he specializes in the area of public transportation. Dave serves as general counsel to the agency that operates the Golden Gate Bridge, as well as other prominent San Francisco Bay Area transportation authorities.
