If there is an exceptional musician in the new wave of blues in Barcelona, it is undoubtedly the pianist Bernat Font, who managed to form his own trio before the age of 25 and record an excellent debut album entitled The Shout (Sweet Records), winning the 2012 Jaç Award for the Best New Act. A follower of Lluís Coloma and Ignasi Terraza, Font is outstanding both because of his elaborate discourse – the result of a surprising maturity – and for the freedom with which he performs classics from the era of swing and boogie woogie. Flanked by two local masters of blues and swing, Font is already one of the great new figures on our blues and jazz scene.
