Les Czimber walked through the snow at night to escape a totalitarian government and play you an old classic.

Nils Petter Molvaer's debut "Khmer" is absolute nu jazz classics, his later works very soon became too close to new age/elevator music or not to impressive house/jazz. Than he switched to equally not to impressive jazz-rock. "Khmer" stays stand-alone monument of his importancy as nu jazz pioneer, but there are another album, too rare to be noticed, which is close to "Khmer" by its innovative quality. I'm speaking about French release on Wagram from 2005, "Edy" film soundtrack. Recorded with his more or less regular Nordic quartet (incl. guitarist Eivind Aarset), this album is interesting as partial musical return to "Khmer"'s aesthetics. Not of the same level, but if you're liked "Khmer" and are disappointed with almost any later Molvaer's work, "Edy" soundtrack is a chance for you.
