^ We talked about this album before, but do not understand the truth. However, such thing remembered that I was interested.

Keen to have a listen to that - radio stations are blocked here at work, sadly, so it'll have to be later. In the meantime: |

^ Yes. Probably "Maiden Voyage" will be still generally popular for his fan and listener. However, as a personal opinion. When it is "The Prisoner" and "Speak Like A Child" to be very splendid, I feel it with the album which Hancock announced for the Blue Note era.

I've been listening to one of my Pandora stations. I put this one together about a year ago with progressive big band music and other types of "sophisticated" jazz ranging from the 30s to the present. Today was Eric Reed, Bob Mintzer, Billy Childs, McCoy Tyner, Amad Jamal, Gil Evans, Coleman Hawkins and others.

two compositions from two different bands - archival recordings from early 80s.
First one (41 min) is all-stars avantgarde big band with Alan Skidmore,Keith Tippett,Mark Charig Louis Moholo among others. Second composition (37 min) - trio (without Elton Dean!), Beckett/Miller/Moholo, free-form improv with great groove. Very strong album for fans of Elton Dean free-jazz side, no relations with his work in Soft Machine though

Incredibly refreshing album, rooted in tradition, but sounding very modern. Jazz veterans show how great could sound modern reading of classic compositions, with light touch of adventurous jazz Edited by snobb - 11 Nov 2012 at 3:44pm |
