The concert was good and we stayed dry for the most part.  Chicago was touring as "Back To The Beginning" so it was mostly all songs from their first albums.  The encore finished up with a set of Chicago and REO Speedwagon playing together alternating songs.  They played 6 songs in this set.  It was kind of interesting to see the different bands playing and singing each others songs.

Anyhow:

I agree.  Thumbs Up  They are one of those bands that I  enjoy listening to that the girlfriend enjoys too, so I don't get the cross-eyed look that comes with many of the other bands that I might be playing.

Chicago is usually a pretty solid band, their early albums are excellent, but a lot of their later pop tunes are okay too.

I saw REO a few years ago and they still sounded pretty good.  They played a free concert in my city's annual FunFest weekend.  I am sure a far cry from their hey day, but they sounded good and the crowd was really in to it.  I am enjoying the new Chicago album.  It isn't as good as their first albums, but I think that it is still a quality release.  Anyhow, some more hits from them.

LOL

this new Chicago album is not all so bad (if not compare it with first few releases)

if they will sound like on it, at least you will hear quality pop-jazz I expect

I would imagine they are more like REO SlowWagon at this point. Thats a tough one to take for more than a song or two.

I am supposed to go and see Chicago play tonight with REO Speedwagon.  We had about 3 or 4 inches of rain yesterday and they are predicting that it is going to rain all afternoon.  Not sure if we are still going to go or not.  Our seats are outside on a grassy hill.  There was a Katy Perry concert at the venue last night, so I fully expect the grass to be gone, and the hill to be a mud pit.

I have a relatively small jazz collection, but this is probably my favorite jazz album.   Something to do with it being a lead drummer, methinks.  Sadly, I've never checked out any of his other solo albums.
