Thomas Lee Berrett Jr. (Professionally known as Pastor T.L Barrett) is an American Pentecostal preacher and gospel musician. Barrett is a preacher on Chicago's South Side who released gospel albums in the 1970s as a musician, he was largely unknown outside of Chicago until a resurgence in interest in his music occurred in the 2010s, having a noticeable rise in popularity thanks to Kanye West sampling a song of his. In the 1970s Barret would be inspired by the funk and soul acts of Chicago and would even take heavy inspiration from Earth, Wind and Fire. Barrett would eventually record an album with tbe Youth for Christ Choir, a music ensemble that had approximately 40 members. His music would be known locally but wouldn't get widespread praise until the 2010s
