At the close of 2018, the Tri-Centric Foundation wants to thank all of our friendly experiencers for your continued support and wish you the best in the new year.

This was another fruitful year for Tri-Centric – the New Braxton House label released  https://tricentricfoundation.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=160d6668cf53ebd24ee6aefe1&id=b2653362d8&e=66fc172f4e" rel="nofollow - Sextet (Parker) 1993 , the complete recordings of Anthony Braxton’s legendary Charlie Parker project from twenty-five years ago, while making its entire catalog available on  https://tricentricfoundation.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=160d6668cf53ebd24ee6aefe1&id=c35efaf920&e=66fc172f4e" rel="nofollow - Bandcamp  for easier engagement and distribution. Tireless work continued on digitizing and archiving Braxton’s complete compositional and philosophical archive – as evidenced by the increasing number of artists performing Braxton’s music worldwide, from the young musicians of  https://tricentricfoundation.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=160d6668cf53ebd24ee6aefe1&id=1c4bee3927&e=66fc172f4e" rel="nofollow - Face the Music , to leading new music ensembles like the  https://tricentricfoundation.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=160d6668cf53ebd24ee6aefe1&id=1dc13db03a&e=66fc172f4e" rel="nofollow - JACK Quartet  and  https://tricentricfoundation.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=160d6668cf53ebd24ee6aefe1&id=2864816211&e=66fc172f4e" rel="nofollow - Wet Ink , to Monochrome Brass’s critically acclaimed interpretation of Braxton’s  https://tricentricfoundation.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=160d6668cf53ebd24ee6aefe1&id=727ac3c911&e=66fc172f4e" rel="nofollow - Composition No. 103  for seven trumpets. This activity will continue and grow as we get closer to Anthony’s 75th birthday in 2020, with participants including Thumbscrew, the Artifacts Trio, the Del Sol Quartet, Either/Or, and many more. Our esteemed artistic director continued pushing forwards with his current music, with multiple recordings currently in post-production and sold-out performances of his ZIM Music ensemble in Rome, London and Vienna, plus duo performances with harpist Jacqueline Kerrod in Bologna, Porto, Louisville, and St. Louis.

The Tri-Centric Foundation has continuously evolved since it reemerged on the scene in 2010. The organization has produced recordings and performances of Braxton’s monumental Trillium operas, immersive Sonic Genome performances in Vancouver and Torino, and major festivals of Braxton’s music in New York and North Carolina, Alabama and Amsterdam. Tri-Centric has also supported the next generation of artists, with its Commissioning and Presenting Series and its Research and Development Micro-grants, and its workshops and residencies with schools and students world-wide. Most of this activity has been under the watchful eye and conscientious leadership of our long-time executive director, Taylor Ho Bynum. Taylor began a new teaching job at Dartmouth College in 2017, and after a year and a half of juggling his various responsibilities, has made the difficult decision to step down from his position at Tri-Centric to better focus on his own work as a composer/performer and his commitments as an educator. While Taylor will always be a part of the Tri-Centric family and will continue to support the organization as an advisor and friend, the organization wants to formally thank him for his dedicated service and the extraordinary accomplishments during his tenure, and wish him the greatest success in his future endeavors.

Tri-Centric is excited to announce that beginning in 2019, Kyoko Kitamura will be taking on the role of executive director. Kyoko has been with Tri-Centric since 2010, most recently serving as director of communications, along with being a featured performer on both Trillium operas, multiple small-ensemble and duo  https://tricentricfoundation.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=160d6668cf53ebd24ee6aefe1&id=1b01646105&e=66fc172f4e" rel="nofollow - performances  and  https://tricentricfoundation.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=160d6668cf53ebd24ee6aefe1&id=59e30da266&e=66fc172f4e" rel="nofollow - recordings , and as producer and performer on the upcoming 12-CD box set GTM (Syntax) 2017. Prior to re-entering the music scene, Kyoko also had a successful career as a television journalist and a magazine writer, bringing deep experience and leadership to her new position.

The Tri-Centric Foundation has many exciting projects coming up in 2019 – including an upcoming event on  https://tricentricfoundation.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=160d6668cf53ebd24ee6aefe1&id=4719f76cc7&e=66fc172f4e" rel="nofollow - January 25 at Roulette  celebrating the release of GTM (Syntax) 2017, a night of Braxton’s music co-produced with the Edition Festival in Stockholm on  https://tricentricfoundation.us4.list-manage.com/track/click?u=160d6668cf53ebd24ee6aefe1&id=572e796ffa&e=66fc172f4e" rel="nofollow - February 8 , and many more ensembles performing and students learning Braxton’s music as part of his 75th birthday celebration (aka Braxton75).
