JazzDenmark bio:

About :

- Since arriving on the Danish Jazz scene in 1981 this elegant and explosive musician has been searching relentlessly into the realms of experimental and contemporary music. A truly original and virtuoso voice, performing in bands such as his own 11-pieceroots/blues/jazz oriented Fredrik Lundin Overdrive, the imrpov-trio Sound of Choise with Hasse Poulsen, the ECM-recording and border-crossing Jon Balke Magnetic North Orchestra and the jazz quartet Jonas Johansens Move. Also he is a distinguished composer for contemporary ensembles and jazz groups.
His latest album with Overdrive, "Belly-up" deals with the classic music of blues legend Leadbelly, whereas the improv-trio Sound Of Choice' brand new release, "Rugby In Japan", is a tour de force through almost every imaginable kind of music and sound scape, ranging from a frenetic and very virtuoso electronic improvisation to a beautiful lyrical song, from dark, mysterious wanderings to heavy metal jazz.

Fredrik Lundin's Discography as a leader:
"Twilight Land" with his quartet (1986, Stunt); "The Cycle" with his Sextet (1987, Salut); "Pieces of..." featuring Paul Bley (1990, Stunt); "People, Places, Times & Faces" featuring Palle Danielsson, Kenneth Knudsen, Audun Kleive and Trine-Lise Vaering (1992, Storyville); "Desde el norte..." with Dos Mundos (a fusion of argentinian folkmusic and jazz 1997, Stunt); "Music For Dancers and Dreamers" (1997, Stunt); "Choose Your Boots" with Overdrive (2001, Stunt) and his new album published 2004 "Fredrik Lundin & Overdrive Plays the Music of Leadbelly" (2004, Stunt).

Fredrik is playing as a sideman on around 50 albums, for instance on Django Bates & Herlin Riley's production "12 Jazz Visits" (Stunt) and Jon Balke's Magnetic North Band "Diverted Travels" published on ECM Records in 2004."
