   Ronnie Scott’s All Stars will be taking a break from the famous London jazz club as they return to St Ives for two more nights for the September Festival.The group will perform the Soho Songbook at The Western Hotel on Tuesday, September 19, before showcasing 100 Years of Ella Fitzgerald the following night to mark a century since the birth of the incomparable jazz singer.
This year the band will consist of vocalist Natalie Williams, who has sold out her monthly residency at the London venue every night for nearly 10 years, James Pearson on piano, Sam Burgess on bass, Alex Garnett on saxophone and Chris Higginbottom on drums.
The Soho Songbook, a guided musical tour of the songs and music of performers at Ronnie Scott's over the past 57, years from Miles Davis to Sarah Vaughan and beyond, also includes narration and rare archive images.
Like the club in Soho, the songs have stood the test of time and Ronnie Scott's describes the show as "a must-see for any jazz fan or lover of the Great American Songbook."
The band's second performance, 100 Years of Ella Fitzgerald, will pay tribute to the legendary first lady of song with a swinging set of her jazz classics.
The Western - home of St Ives Jazz Club which won the UK Jazz Club of the Year award in 2015 - will be hosting three more big jazz nights during the September Festival.
The hotel's festival fortnight begins with London-based Almagro Ensemble's contemporary tango night on Monday, September 11, bringing new innovations in tango from Argentina to a European audience.
Led by pianist John Turville, the group includes violinist Lucy Waterhouse, Polish accordionist Bartosz, guitarist Chris Allard and double bassist Tom Mason.
The following night Jazzolea present 'The mystery of jazz through flamenco,' featuring Esther Weekes performing jazz voice and flamenco dance, Cristian de Moret with flamenco voice and piano, Pablo Pradas on flamenco guitar and bass guitar, David Chupete on percussion and Demi Garcia Sabat on drums.
Wednesday, September 13, features British jazz saxophonist Gilad Atzmon with his John Coltrane Project, an interpretation of the music of the legendary American musician.
His album Exile was BBC jazz album of the year in 2003 and, playing more than 100 dates a year, and as a member of The Blockheads, multi-instrumentalist Atzmon has also recorded and performed with Ian Dury, Robbie Williams, Sinead O'Connor and Paul McCartney.
