Vijay Iyer & Wadada Leo Smith to Release Album on ECM

Pair will also perform several duo dates

Pianist Vijay Iyer and trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith will release A Cosmic Rhythm With Each Stroke on ECM Records on March 25. The two musicians previously played together in Smith’s Golden Quartet. The album was produced by Manfred Eicher at New York’s Avatar Studios in October 2015.
Iyer is currently artist-in-residence at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art, and he and Smith will be premiering A Cosmic Rhythm With Each Stroke there in March, in the context of an exhibition dedicated to Nasreen Mohamedi’s art and writings. That and other dates are listed below.
