Geraldo Vandré was probably the main composer of protest-songs against the military dictatorship in the 1960s. Arrested, tortured, exiled he was "killed" by his opressors and became since then a musical zombie. Pity!
Vandré (with Ana Lúcia) recorded the first version of this bossa nova standard, back in 1962. Later he goes like a ram against the bloody wall of the military rulers: 1968, Vandré and the anthem of those opposing the dictators and searching for democracy. Here Vandré's ordeal started: |
