Hello all, me again. This time asking for thoughts/opinions/recommendations.etc on Wadada Leo Smith and his many projects.

So far, I'm more or less in love with his Golden Quartet (or Quintet on Spiritual Dimensions). Don't have The Year Of The Elephant yet, but that will be my next WLS purchase. Also, just picked up his most recent outing with the Organic group (Heart's Reflection), haven't had time to listen to it yet, but I enjoy their disc on SD a fair bit. So, I guess my question is where do I go next?

I was looking at Lake Biwa and America, specifically, as potential next purchases. Good ideas? And of course, what else from his discog (with any group/line-up etc) would you recommend? (Not too much of a fan of solo trumpet music though, which I know he's dabbled in.)

Feel free to say how much you love/like/hate the music, as a whole, as well. And of course, thanks for the help. Smile

Strange fellow, if you take his entire discography, I didn't exactly know how to feel about the 80s-90s output (Rastafari, Kulture Jazz, Tao-Ninja etc.). Earlies: Reflectativity as a must (though it might show up in its 2000 package), I remember Creative Music being even wackier, there's an ECM fling called Divine Love. Re-cents: dunno about Biwa and America, I marked down Tabligh as solid. Maybe Luminous Axis and Saturn..., as well? Hmm, depends.

Yeah, seems like a fairly diverse discog, which makes it more difficult to find things.

I have Tao-Nija and it is indeed interesting. I feel it needs more time to sink in. Do you know how many differences there are between the two Reflectativities? And I like wackier so I'll look into Creative Music.

I want to say I had my eye on Luminous Axis as well...but I may be confusing it with something else. I'll look into Saturn....and Tabligh as well. Thanks.
