this one is interesting if not their best - but it gives an idea of early music of this trio, which was quite unique (in fact compilation, containing already released ("New Wine") and previously unreleased live piece).

in case of interest - there are some better albums, probably an obscure ones though

^ Yeah...I have several from them, though two that seem to get high praise (Catalogue & Con Anima/Concerto Grosso) are sadly OOP.

All three are still active - Ganelin lives in Israel for more than two decades, but visit Vilnius regularly and plays once or twice here every year, Tarasov is active with audio-visual installation projects  and Chekasin led youth big band for some years. See them all in town time to time

Nice...all three are great players so I'm sure seeing them in any context is a thrill.

The latest jazz CD I have bought, among others, is saxophonist Houston Person's A Little Houston on the Side. It includes a good sample of his recordings for the Muse label between the 1970s and '90s and is highly recommendable.

I wrote more in depth about it in my blog, Jazz Flashes, and you may read the post HERE.

You are welcome to post your reviews on our site. Let me know if you need help doing that, but every album on the site has a spot for a review.

js,

I promise it's not really my intention to use this forum to publicize my blog. I already posted about Jazz Flashes in a different part of the forum as a way to promote it, and I will stop there. The reason why I added this link here is that it was easier for me to do so rather than rewrite my opinions about this great Houston Person album all over again. It just so happens that I've published a review of it in Jazz Flashes, and so I added the link to it instead of paraphrasing it, but I won't do it again in the future, and if you prefer, I can simply delete it. My sincere apologies.

I'm sorry, everything is fine and you have done no wrong in promoting your blog, we welcome all this.

I was just offering to you that you are also welcome to post reviews on our site if you want to.

Cheers Smile

js,

Thanks! I guess I misunderstood your post, and I apologize for that. Being new to the forum, I'd like to make sure that I abide by its rules.

I definitely would love to publish reviews on the site, and I'd appreciate any help you can offer with that.

By the way, I see that you list Memphis as your location. I also live in Tennessee, about two hours from Memphis, and I actually did live in Memphis a few years ago.

Cheers!
