A line from the lyrics to Alfie, one of the tunes PM covers, as originally sung by Cilla Black for the first movie of the same name. Album title seems rather apt, but perhaps now with a month away from hearing the album and making no great rush to listen again, I'm starting to ask what's the point - contractual stopgap??

Here's the Pat-led titles I have:
Metheny, Pat    Bright Size Life    1976
Metheny, Pat    Watercolors    1977
Metheny, Pat    New Chataqua    1978
Metheny, Pat Group    Pat Metheny Group    1978
Metheny, Pat Group    American Garage    1979
Metheny, Pat & Lyle Mays    As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls    1980
Metheny Group, Pat    Offramp    1982
Metheny, Pat Group    Travels    1982
Metheny, Pat Group    First Circle    1984
Metheny, Pat Group    STILL life (talking)    1987
Metheny, Pat with Dave Holland & Roy Haynes    question and answer    1989
Metheny, Pat    Secret Story    1992
Metheny, Pat Group    Imaginary Day    1997
Metheny, Pat    Map of the World, A    1999

Metheny. Pat    One Quiet Night    2003
Metheny, Pat Group    Way Up, The    2005
Metheny, Pat    Orchestrion    2010

I started to lose interest after First Circle, but will add a title if I find something interesting and the price is right.  The Way Up still hasn't impressed me.  I really enjoy Orchestrion.  I also have a few more him in other collaborations.  Not many in those that really excite me.

Just won a Grammy award in the Best New Age Album category. That definetly says something about the direction his music has taken recently
I think the problem with a lot of the fusion music is that it's extremely predictable, it's a rock rhythm and the solos all play the same stuff and they play it over and over again ...

Haven't heard his ltest, but can't qualify his previous Orchestrion as new age at all.... typical ECM-Metheny, yes.... new age, no!!
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicted musicians to crazy ones....

I heard Orchestrion for the first time recently, and was really digging it. I forgot I was going to get that album.

THANKS JMA!

If there is a member knowing the information about "Unity Band" of Pat Metheny, please tell me. Probably the album will be released in June.

Let us know how it is. I like Pat Metheny, but not everything he does is "auto-buy" for me.

That first Pat Metheny Group album always gets me. I don't know what it is, but it's just a beautiful album. It seems a lot of Metheny talk has been going on both on the forums and the site (and on PA too).

There was the information that a live album as "Orchestrion Project" was announced in this autumn. However, the release seemed to be postponed somehow or other.

I listened to Orchestrion maybe once or twice, and remember thinking it sounded cool. I'll have to revisit it again.

Yea. Orchestrion is one of Pat's best. Listening again now, and it's up there with some of the best albums he's done in the last 10 years or so. It's really cool how the album was made. Info can be found here http://www.patmetheny.com/orchestrioninfo/

I can't believe I overlooked the album when it came out.
