Starting this week’s brand new releases is Chet Baker Re:imagined, the Blue Note album celebrating seventy years since Chet Baker Sings and inviting guest performers to explore and reinterpret the work of the great trumpeter and singer. Guitarist Andrea Rinciari presents his album Soho Sessions, exploring the best of bop, swing and jazz and BEATrio sees banjo master Béla Fleck unconventionally unite with harp and drums, resulting in a bold and innovative delight. Eric Scott Reed captures the New York City nightlife scene in his atmospheric Out Late and finally, vocalist Lucía Gutiérrez Rebolloso debuts her self-titled album, filled with latin influences and inventive reinterpretations.
Released in honour of the 70th anniversary of the landmark record Chet Baker Sings, a global lineup of voices in R&B, pop, soul, and jazz present a reinterpretation of Baker material in Chet Baker: Re:imagined. The Blue Note album features fresh interpretations of iconic songs from artists including dodie, Matt Maltese, grentperez, and Ezra Collective’s trumpeter Ife Ogunjobi. Combining integrity with a modern freshness, this album looks at the songs of Chet Baker in a whole new way. Available Formats: CD, MP3, FLAC/ALAC/WAV, Hi-Res FLAC/ALAC/WAV The new trio of banjo legend Béla Fleck, Colombian harpist Edmar Castañeda, and Mexican drummer Antonio Sánchez brings together three virtuosos from diverse musical worlds for a dynamic (albeit unconventional) collaboration. With each member known for pushing the boundaries of their instrument, adventuring into the unknown comes naturally – and with a tracklist of mostly original and collaboratively written pieces, the trio delivers melodic and rhythmically intricate music that blends groove and improvisational flair in equal measure. Available Formats: MP3, FLAC/ALAC/WAV, Hi-Res FLAC/ALAC/WAV Italian jazz guitarist Andrea Rinciari captures the vibrant energy of a band shaped by weekly live performances in London’s Soho. Featuring tenor saxophonist Alex Garnett, bassist Lorenzo Morabito, and drummer Mark Taylor, the album presents eight thoughtfully chosen jazz standards and hidden gems. With unique arrangements, the record blends classic swing and bebop whilst embracing creative reinterpretations. Soho Sessions is a heartfelt tribute to the jazz tradition performed by an ensemble that puts collaborative interplay at the centre of their playing. Available Formats: CD, MP3, FLAC/ALAC/WAV, Hi-Res FLAC/ALAC/WAV In his new album, Eric Scott Reed channels the pulse and ambience of NYC nightlife alongside his stellar ensemble of trumpeter Nicholas Payton, tenor saxophonist Eric Alexander, bassist Peter Washington, and drummer Joe Farnsworth. A personal title for a personal album, Out Late has ushered in a new era of creative freedom and emotional depth for Reed’s musicmaking, and the album made up of original tracks looks to musically challenge whilst keeping authenticity front and centre. Available Formats: MP3, FLAC/ALAC/WAV, Hi-Res FLAC/ALAC/WAV The debut album from singer Lucía Gutiérrez Rebolloso undertakes a blend of jazz, pop and latin genres in a series of rich reinterpretations. Hailing from Mexico, the singer was the winner of the 2022 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, her latin-infused ‘What A Difference A Day Makes’ helping her take first prize home, as well as also featuring on the album. A coming together of different languages, sounds and influences, Lucía is a powerful debut. Available Formats: MP3, FLAC/ALAC/WAV, Hi-Res FLAC/ALAC/WAV
