Death By Stereo

I won’t waste mine
They can’t make me alright
I’m hollow
A bent line
Keep me posted outside
My old frame of mind
Can’t get me there on time
If waiting is a crime
Surely we will be fine

Swing/Jazz album actually. The title is a bit misleading, more to do with "Rockin' Chair" Heaps of classics given the treatment, "Black and Blue", 'Blue turning Grey over You", "West End Blues", "Give Me a Kiss"..........heaps are Armstrong regulars given the Frankie Laine treatment. Great solos as wellCool

These three are from Dusty Groove John, the Jam Session one found in a local store. I don't bother going to stores hunting much anymore unless, if I am there I will look but can't be bothered at the moment. I use Ebay and Amazon, normally to compare, better and cheaper. This Frankie I am playing I paid 99 cents for and "Rockin" was 59 cents, real good nick too. Buck above was $5.99. The shipping costs more than the product normally. Dusty Groove has Larry Harlow's tribute to Arsenio Rodriguez on Fania. They want $35, I would like it but for that money, well I reckon I could get some more Buck's.  Frankie Laine has one called New Orleans a Celebration in Music with Jo Stafford dueting and they do some on their own as well, Originally released 10' and I can't find nuthn'Unhappy I have got two of his 10' inches I found though coming and Frankie's Blues one which will be more Jazz. In the fifties he did predominately Jazz and Pop. The Country stuff is what he is most remembered for but sh*t can he sing Jazz Approve

Good, they are what they say. The clean them. If they have pops they usually say. This one has a Pop on one track for about 1 min ( Jazz Spectacular) and it the first one on the B side but very little surface noise. They have bucket loads of Soul as well.Approve

Yeah! I'm with you there. I think Darwin is my favourite Banco album, perhaps their best (out of the mere 3 I have).
And I am always stunned by the QVL album, always. It's such a confident mix of styles. So much to like in it, right down to the cover art

They have great covers those Italian Prog albums. Balletto di Bronzo "Ys" is another big fave of mine too.

I've been listening to Etienne Charles, a young trumpeter we're about to add to the site, next up will be Sun Ra's "Live at Montreaux".

It has been a while since I played some Continental Prog..............In the sixties and after in Aust. Italian Barbers always had Continental Barber on the sign. Disappeared about 20 years ago because although most dream of Rome they really are olive eating, beer drinking ockers nowadays. LOL

Thumbs Up
I think the problem with a lot of the fusion music is that it's extremely predictable, it's a rock rhythm and the solos all play the same stuff and they play it over and over again ...

Ah, I dimly remember seeing those signs, but then, none of the barbers in country Australia really go for that now, perhaps for similar reasons? .... Ah, dreaming of Rome. I'm doing that sometimes while I should be teaching, more and more of late !  Hard to forget my trip. Got a stack of RPI too, very happy.

Matt, I'm guessing you've got this one?

Been cranking it a bit of late. I remember I paid close to 80 bucks on it (with shipping and conversion from America) some years ago (when the conversion rate was much worse for buying from Au) and it looks more rare now, at about 100 US. Sadly, that was before I found Greg Walker's site where it's $20. Sigh.
