So what I'm looking for is some fast-paced, complex, Hard rock-post bop-jazz fusion. If you need a better idea of what I mean, this sample should help. And if it's by a Guitar-Bass-Drums lineup, that's even better.

Mike 'dark shade' is our resident Metheny expert, maybe he'll drop by with some wisdom.

I think his noisiest most avante-garde album is "Song X", lots of sonic guitar onslaughts on that one.

Okay, that's a little too heavy. How about something arround the lines of "Back Arm and Blackcharge" from Tokyo Day Trip

The first time I see the word heavy together with Pat Metheny, heh. I really like his music, and I've listened to a bunch of his albums, but wouldn't consider him heavy in any point, exception Song X that john pointed out.

How heavy are you expecting? I could only find a cover of "Back Arm and Blackcharge.

The word "heavy" in music can mean a lot of things, for some it means thick distorted power chords ala metal etc, but "heavy' can also mean very serious, as in old hippy language, ie 'Have you heard Coltrane's new album, man is it heavy".

I meant relativly heavy. Heavy relative to Metheny's style. But more spesiphicly (sorry for the piss poor spelling) something like "Back Arm and Blackcharge".

What album is "Back Arm and Blackcharge" on? I don't remember all the titles of Pat's tunes.

Welcome to the internet, where a couple clicks on google will usually bring results for what you're looking for.

Alright, I know I've heard that one, but I don't have the "Tokyo Day Trip" album, but I do have the studio album "Day Trip". I'm not 100% sure of what you mean by 'heavy', but you might be interested in checking out Pat Metheny Group's "The Way Up", there is some distorted guitar on that one, and it's also possibly Metheny's most prog album. "Song X" is also heavy, in a more abrasive, free, and avant way. "Orchestrion" also has some 'heavy' moments. Again, I'm not totally sure what it is you're looking for, smarty, so let me know if I'm off.

I'm more into Pat Metheny's 70s albums, and early 80s albums (both solo and PM Group), so the world-fusion and jazz-rock/fusion thing; with some favorites spread out through the rest of the 80s, 90s, and 2000s, as well as a guest or collaboration with other artists or bands.

The sample here is a pretty good representation of what i mean.

So, really just a fast-paced, complex, hard-rock inspired fusion piece. Infact, it dosen't have to be Metheny. Really anything kinda like this would be nice.

That sample reminds me of early Blood Ulmer.
