The only other non-French European brandy I know which is really good is Greek Metaxa (but try 5* or 7*), it's really different from all others and has very specific taste of southern herbs

Worst/best alcoholic drink? Worst, Lysol, second worst hand sanitizer. My favorite was a self proportioned Mai Tai recipe. :)
I should mention that I haven't tried any of those worst ones, just heard of them and the hearing of them alone made me wanna barf. If I were to be able to have a drink with any of ye one day, it would be a good single malt scotch. Maybe more. Gotta pick one region and sample the others. :) Edited by Slartibartfast - 26 Oct 2012 at 8:50pm |

Looks good, the weather here has turned also and I have the evening off for a change. Might need to look into something to drink later on ...

We got first snow this fall last night - it's time for stronger drinks. As rule I prefer French brendies, but there is one Spanish drink, which is great - Torres 10:

^ A pretty terrific bar with various old jazz vinyls is in Tokyo, where Kazuhiro took me a few years ago ... I enjoyed Yosuke Trio's "Frozen Days". This is my favourite one.

I often visit jazz bar, but there are few bars which can enjoy an old record now. The shop which only a fan really knows. Japan had a lot of such bar approximately 40 years ago. When the management of the shop has a deficit. Or the fashion changes with the times. The bars were few now, but I knew the precious album which I knew in a bar.

That would be awesome
I have always wanted to visit that bar in Japan that Kazuhiro visits with all the old jazz records, it sounds like a great place, we don't have a bar like that anywhere in the US that I know about.

Thank you for recommending "Sato", Damosan. I have not yet tried it. However, it looks very good. Are there two kinds of wheat and the potato to the raw materials? Anyway, I wait for an opportunity to try it.

Let me say the most delightful Japanese malt-based Shochu for me is Sato!
Taste and flavour of singed malt, baked sweet doughnut ... awesome one. |

This summer is on its end here, we finished warm season with one wine from home collection - Vranac Pro Corde
this bottle came from Balkans during one of my last visits, living there for some years I found out that between red dry wines of the region Montenegrin Vranac is a great choice. It comes from Skadar Valley - region near Skadar lake on Montenegrin/Albanian border and in middle price segment is unbeatable choice all around W.Balkans (I mean Vranac Pro Corde, there are cheaper version named just "Vranac"). Dark red, full bodied and slightly tannic. I noticed its price in US (in net) is around 17 $, looks like a bit expensive, regular price in Serbia,Montenegro or Bosnia is around 5-6 euro.
