I only ever heard Frankie Laine do Country and Rockabilly + Pop but never Jazz. Brilliant stuff, one of the best vocal albums I have heard in years. Buck Clayton,JJ Johnson, Kai Winding are fantastic as Buck's whole band is. Great lengthy solos from the musicians and Buck often has that trad New Orleans sound with his playing. This has had a few spins lately

Hey Matt, regarding your remark about Buck Clayton yesterday, I have a record where he channels that old sound too, nice stuff.

I have Clayton on an old Ben Webster record, ..I think, .. anyway, its like you describe, a cross between bop and old New Orleans, great player.

I've never heard anything from Uno or Citta Frontale, but they are on my list. And I agree, that dark beast Palepoli is in a league of it's own, huh? And I have found 'Suddance' to have some great songs on it - the bass sound is a little cheesy, as is the sax, on the second half, but I love the first half and I agree with you again, Kazu, Osanna fans should give it another listen! |

Yes. A lot of prog rock affected by jazz and fusion exists. I have some albums of Italian prog rock, but Dedalus and Alti E Mestieri are my favorite bands. Of course there are a lot of bands which, besides, are good.

Yes, I love Eddie's Stevie Wonder skit, I may drop off the link here later. You saw the link to Eddie's James Brown skit earlier didn't you?
