It's pretty ironic that as time went by, Sun Ra became more down to earth in his music.

Lucky you, I imagine people in Memphis would have a little more class than Melbourne.
I can get plenty of ACDC  or anything with a fairly hard rock approach down here and there is a famous Aussie band I hate but the rest of the country seems to think they are awesome being Cold Chisel. LOL Aussie culture.

Hahaha! Dunno if I'd go so far as to call AC/DC or CC culture Wink  - no wait, they are, aren't they? Pub rock / Aussie rock is a bit of a way of life fo some folks. I don't dislike either band, but don't have much or their music really. Something lacking in the way of dynamic? Generally ace at rocking out but
That Jimmy Barnes Cry Anyway look who is headling the Bluesfest ,Ashley Wink I will not be going for sureLOL

Time for some Ernie

I know what you mean. They seem to repeat over the years a lot of the artists as well. Buddy Guy was out not that long ago, same with Angelique Kidjo (3rd or 4th time with the fest) for her and she sings African music or a hybrid these days. I don't mind the diversity but they do need to have a few more actual Blues artists in the line-up. I don't think there is anybody from New Orleans there. They had Dylan headline once though Approve approved of that oneLOL still saw him down here when he toured. The festival goes over the entire Easter Period and you could not pick a better spot to have it than Byron Bay ( semi tropical and beautiful, right on the coast). You do need to know someone up there though if you don't want to sleep in a tent for five days. The place is not cheap. It is a twenty two hour drive to get there for me or fly and you still have to get a bus down from Coolangatta to get there.

I think the problem with a lot of the fusion music is that it's extremely predictable, it's a rock rhythm and the solos all play the same stuff and they play it over and over again ...
