STEPHAN BRAUN picture
Stephan Braun, born in 1978 studied classical cello and jazzcello at the university in Hamburg and Berlin. Stephan has performed in different projects with Schauspielhaus Hamburg, Berliner Ensemble, NDR-Bigband and he worked as a sideman with Chris Hinze, Manfred Weinberger, Don Thomson, Boi Akih, Kristjan Randalu, Annamateur among others. In 2004 he won the 1st price of the Jazz & Blues Award in Berlin with the band deep strings. Now his CD debut (The Raid, released 2008) is out and cellist Stephan Braun, a seasoned musician to be sure, answers the question once and for all of what the true domain of the cello in jazz is: groove.

He currently resides in Berlin, Germany.
