Nicole Johänntgen was born in Fischbach (D) on September 4, 1981. At the age of six she began to play classical piano and crossed over to the saxophon years later. Nicole made her first experiences on stage with her father´s group as well as with the „Jugend Jazz Orchester“ based in Saarland. In 1998 she founded with her brother Stefan Johänntgen (piano/sounds), Christian Konrad (bass) and Elmar Federkeil (drums) the quartet „NICOLE JO“. They self-produced four CDs. Their fifth CD with the name „Go On“ appeared on March 25 on Jazzhaus Records in Freiburg/Germany. Lew Soloff: „Nicole is a truly spirited and vibrant player who has a true and pure artistic integrity. Obviously music means everything to her and this translates to me and surely to many more people.“ The saxophonist was member of: „International Association for Schools of Jazz“ (IASJ, USA), „Sisters in Jazz“ (IAJE, USA), „European Swinging Youth Jazz Orchestra“
