Batagraf is a percussion collective that started as a private research and study group that was not meant for performance. The initial members were Ingar Zach, Helge Norbakken , Kenneth Ekornes, Harald Skullerud and Jon Balke. However after some years the invitations to perform became many and the group has been touring and playing concerts since 2004, although still continuing the research, also by group travels to Wolof players in The Gambia. The relation between language and rhythm has been a guiding line all the way , and the group has invited in sound poets like Jaap Blonk and Sidsel Endresen, vocal groups like Trondheim Voices and Standup comedians like Espen Beranek Holm and Are Kalvø. Batagraf has also done extended group work with different drummers and students, like in this picture with Bjørn Tomren on vocals and a group of master students from NMH in Oslo.
