John Patitucci Documentary Premieres Online Tomorrow“Back in Brooklyn” will be available for downloadBy JazzTimes A documentary film featuring bassist John Patitucci, Back in Brooklyn, will premiere online tomorrow, Jan. 7. The film combines live performances, exclusive footage from rehearsals and the recording studio, and candid interviews with family and fellow musicians, including members of John Patitucci's Electric Guitar Quartet (Steve Cardenas and Adam Rogers on guitars and Brian Blade on drums), plus musicians Herbie Hancock, Chick Corea, Danilo Pérez and Wayne Shorter. The film was produced by Bill St. Angelo and John St. Angelo and directed by Patrick Cone. In addition to being a full-time professional musician, according to a press release for the film, Patitucci is also very active in music education and the film “goes into the classroom at Danilo Pérez's Berklee Global Jazz Institute at the Berklee College of Music in Boston where we witness students being inspired to create their own sound by a natural teacher.” Patitucci has played bass with Shorter, Corea, Hancock, B.B. King, Natalie Cole, Freddie Hubbard, McCoy Tyner, Stan Getz, Bonnie Raitt, Sting and Bono, among others. Back in Brooklyn will be available for download for $15.00 at August Sky Films. |
