I think the problem with a lot of the fusion music is that it's extremely predictable, it's a rock rhythm and the solos all play the same stuff and they play it over and over again ...

I've only picked up three from this year this year so far (so far so far? Tongue)
Radiohead - King Of Limbs
Knifeworld - Dear Lord, No Deal
Jakko Jakszyk/Robert Fripp/Mel Collins - A Scarcity Of Miracles

Did some catch up for last year with two The Reasoning releases: Adverse Camber and Acoustically Speaking, which are overshadowing those three at the moment.

The only 2011 albums Ive heard so far are

Beardfish - Mammoth
Neal Morse - Testimony 2
Sympony X - Iconoclast
Bela Fleck & The Flecktones - Rocket Science

Beardfish and Neal Morse albums are 5 star albums. The Symphony X and Bela Fleck albums are 4 star albums leaning heavily towards 4 1/2

I'm glad I haven't gotten it yet. You're not the first person to say that. I feel like the new Yes album will be the same way (...heads over to PA)

New Yes is so-so, but strongly  Downes/Trevor Horn/The Buggles album.David Benoit tries hardly to imitate Anderson...  Anyway, if you liked Horn/Downes version of Yes, you possibly will like this album, but not my cup of coffee.

What? What happened to Oliver Wakeman?! (hell I'm pretty lost concerning prog newsEmbarrassed)

Downes is on keyboards filling all the space around,Trevor Horn isn't on board, but musical material is coming mostly from The Buggles unreleased promo from 80s.

Ugh, I thought this was going to be brand new. I really like Drama eh, but stil.

Anyway, if you remember my posts on PA, I'm not actually really mad about new prog releases from old bands. Probably won't buy this. (and I saw Yes last year! heh)

Im guessing the new Neal Morse blows the new Yes album out of the water (like a fish, oh snap!)

Seriously, Testimony 2 is so good!. It has a couple Yes-influenced moments, and all they do is make me throw my fist in the air in triumph LOL

All songs are recorded new with current team, just were written three decades ago Smile. Not much of neo-prog, more retro-prog from 80s

Yeah I know, but I thought it would still be brand new material from now. I've listened to various clips on YouTube and it sounds like Unitopia or some other retro-happy Prog band, not much distinguishable nor interesting for me (anymore).

tangled thoughts of dreaming are leading in the album of the year category as far as I'm concerned. Other than that, Snowgoons present Lord Lhus - The Iron Fist is a really good release for this year. Noir by Blue Sky Black Death is up there as well. Thats all that comes to mind... posters at the PA might remember me for my 2011 Is Such A Disapointment thread

Went through my ipod found a couple more worth mentioning

Virus - The Agent That Shapes The Desert
Beneath The Massacre - Maree Noire EP
Origin - Entity (its a step down from Antithesis but a great record none the less)

I have two albums that come to my memorie, the first one was a disappointing one, the Glass Drop from Battles, i really cannot love it as much as the Mirrored one, and i really miss Tyondai Braxton on the album (even that the great Yamataka Eye makes an appearance), at least its a worth loss, because Braxton solo is something incredible. (check is Central Market album, pure gem.) and then, a great album is the Turbina Anthem from Sei Miguel and Pedro Gomes, the portuguese duo, Pedro Gomes is known for a very noisy, experimental, guitar stuff, and Sei Miguel is a hell of a musician doing improvised music since the 80's here in portugal, pocket trumpet player that mixes something like improvised music, some almost-jazz, and a lot of free.. the turbina anthem, it's a must listen to.

Even that its not from 2011 the last great finding ( i think i start listen to him last week) was Cornelius Cardew, and for jazz lovers / classical / more experimental its someting really impressive, his treatise for exemple, and the interpretation of his work is amazing.  (in case that you listen something from him and you get caught, check this !  http://www.blockmuseum.northwestern.edu/picturesofmusic/pages/anim.html" rel="nofollow - http://www.blockmuseum.northwestern.edu/picturesofmusic/pages/anim.html  )

The new Karmakanic album "In A Perfect World" is pretty damn good. Maybe not as good as "Who's the Boss In The Factory?" but Ive only listened to the new one 3 times.

Here is a few more that grabbed me. I will admit there really is nobody new being all old fave artists.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B005GM8XP6/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=5174&s=music" rel="nofollow">Reverie

TomRussell  is with Calexico again Cool
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B005CQ5XZY/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=5174&s=music" rel="nofollow">Mesabi
Another Tom, good but I think he needs a change again soon. The last few albums are all starting to get a bit too familar with each other but as I said, still good none the less

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B005IGVYUG/ref=dp_image_z_0?ie=UTF8&n=5174&s=music" rel="nofollow">Bad As Me [Limited Deluxe Edition]

Christy will always be in my top albums. He only has to fart over his accoustic guitar and I will buy it........Luv ya Christy. Another fairly quite album from him, like his previous "Listen"

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B005OEC3CU/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=5174&s=music" rel="nofollow">Folk Tale

And this is the sad one. Jackie's last album. He has released another one of his Boots as well but "Wayside Shrines For The Travelling Man" is his proper last.  Died from cancer this year. Gonna miss his music, he had a new album every year at the minimun and there is not one crap one released.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B0056CZP9S/ref=dp_image_0?ie=UTF8&n=5174&s=music" rel="nofollow">Wayside Shrines & The Code of The Travelling Man

I have more than one top album from Jackie Leven to recommend but "Shining Brother Shining Sister is stunning. 2003 was the release date.
