George Benson guitar collection debuts at Heritage Auctions

DALLAS, TX.- The privately-owned collection of legendary jazz guitarist and songwriter George Benson — including his rare, 1980 D'Aquisto Sunburst Excel Archtop Electric Guitar, estimated to sell for $60,000 — highlights more than 300 lots in  http://www.ha.com/" rel="nofollow - Heritage Auctions ' Vintage Guitars and Musical Instruments auction May 25 in Dallas. The auction also features historical instruments from the private collection of jazz great Al Valenti. 

'The Benson collection is world renowned for its quality and rarity,' said Michael Gutierrez, Consignment Director for Heritage Auctions. 'Benson has his 10 Grammys and own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and he earned them by playing some of these iconic instruments.' 

The nine-piece Benson Collection includes his 1989 Gibson Chet Atkins Country Gentleman Orange Semi-Hollow Body electric guitar — given to him by Atkins himself (est. $7,000) to his rare, Ibanez George Benson GB-1 Prototype Sunburst Archtop Electric Guitar (est. $5,000). A circa 1990 Ibanez George Benson GB Red Semi-Hollow Body Electric Guitar is Benson's personal prototype GB model guitars (est. $5,000) and a 2016 Kamaka Custom Made for George Benson Natural Tenor Ukulele was custom made for Benson's performances (est. $3,000). 

Offered from the Valenti Collection is a circa 1937 John D'Angelico Sunburst Archtop Acoustic Guitar (est. $20,000), a circa 1930-1940s Gibson L-0 Sunburst Acoustic Guitar (est. $3,500) and a 1941 Gibson L5 Sunburst Acoustic Archtop Electric Guitar (est. $8,000). 

A Heritage vintage guitar auction would not be complete without greats from Martin and Les Paul as a 1957 Martin D-28 Natural Acoustic Guitar (est. $15,000) and a 1956 Gibson Les Paul Custom Black Solid Body Electric Guitar (est. are set to cross the block (est. $15,000). 

Additional highlights include but are not limited to: 

• a 1961 Fender Stratocaster Blonde Solid Body Electric Guitar (est. $25,000) 

• a 1964 Fender Stratocaster "Spaghetti Logo" Sunburst Solid Body Electric Guitar (est. $14,000) 

• a 1961 Fender Jazz Bass White Electric Bass Guitar from the Rudolf Rock-Uli Salm Collection (est. $16,000)
