Multi-million selling French acid jazz artist St Germain is the final name to be added to this year’s Love Supreme Jazz Festival, which runs from 1 to 3 July in the idyllic location of Glynde Place in the South Downs, East Sussex.
The fourth edition of the festival features its winning mix of soul, funk and jazz crossover headliners on the Main Stage with a strong jazz programme across the Big Top and Arena bills. St Germain, aka French musician/producer Ludovic Navarre (pictured top left), is set to headline the Big Top on the Saturday night (2 July)
with his hugely successful mix of jazz-infused Afrobeat, house and
nu-jazz performed by his full live band. They will be preceded by an
exclusive UK appearance by guitarist John Scofield and Mehliana, the improvised, beat-driven keys-and-drum electronica project from Brad Mehldau and Mark Guiliana. Further additions to the festival, for which Jazzwise is media partner, include the full line-up for the Bandstand stage, programmed by Eddie Myer, booker for the jazz Brighton venue, The Verdict.
A Verve Jazz Lounge,
which is set to mark the iconic label’s 60th anniversary year will
present a series of panel discussions, talks, film screenings and
performances, while leading independent record store Rough Trade
will be on site selling albums, merchandise and hosting artist signing
sessions throughout the weekend. Additional programmed events include
the new Higgidy Kids Green family area offering a range
of child and family-orientated activities, including dance workshops
and a bouncy castle, while festival goers can enjoy an enhanced dining
experience courtesy of the Lazy Bird Kitchen who will
be creating a long-table banqueting-style restaurant, working with local
food producers to create a high-quality dining experience. The full line-up is as follows:
