I am delighted that a new jazz club opened in Philadelphia not too long ago. It is called South (http://www.southrestaurant.net/events.php). Since Ortlieb's and Zanzibar Blue closed there has been a dearth of clubs where you can have a drink and listen to great music. Of course there is still Chris's Jazz Cafe, which is terrific. Anyway, I saw Bobby Watson at South and the music was wonderful and so was the food and the ambience. Orrin Evans curates the performers for Wednesday nights and Gerald Veasley for Thursday nights.
