 Every autumn there are two great events for jazz fans in Vilnius - Vilnius Jazz Fest and Vilnius Mama Jazz Fest. Vilnius Jazz finished last Sunday by Bill Frisell great gig ( with really strong program this year inc. Angles 8, Martin Kuchen solo/projects, Dutch cellist Ernst Reijseger, Japanese veteran trumpeter Itaru Oki, British pianist Alexander Hawkins among many others). That means it's time to think about Vilnius Mama Jazz which will tales place at the end of November. Less "underground" than Vilnius Jazz, it has found its face few years ago bringing to Vilnius best of modern advanced musicians. Last year there were Gregg Osby and Steve Coleman among others. This year's program looks really attractive as well. Main attraction will be most probably American trumpeter Christian Scott just released his new album. British Sons Of Kemet come on very fresh release of their second album as well. Norwegian sax player has strong following between fans of more tuneful and softer modern eclectic jazz. French guitarist Marc Ducret returns for duo with leading domestic sax star Liudas Mockunas (they have been already recorded together).Israeli bassist Avishai Cohen Trio closes the program at Monday night.
