Hi everyone,

I need help identifying this song for an old band director's funeral... Any help would be much appreciated!

Song link here:

The song came from a cd of jazz music, but did not have titles... Hopefully someone will be able to recognize this! Thanks in advance!

I don't recognize it. Its a big band and it sounds like it was recorded in the 70s, or at least anytime between now and the 70s. It almost sounds like a local band, like a good local college big band.
The persistent xylophone/marimba part was very odd and un-typical in a jazz piece, that could be the key to finding it. I'll look around and see if I can find anything.

Good ear! So actually this is a local band that was recorded I think in the 60's/early 70's sometime but they are playing some jazz piece which I am hoping to identify. This will probably make the job harder since it's not recorded by a specific popular band themselves... Thanks for your help so far though! It is much appreciated.

I don't recognize it. Its not really a song, and it isn't jazz either.
It sounds like an opening fanfare for a movie or special event. Its a full orchestra and it sounds like it was recorded in the 40s, possibly early 50s.
I think the place to start your search would be film composers and studio arrangers from the 40s.
