Ethos was a band from Iasi, Romania, active in the late seventies/early eighties. The exact dates are not known and I could find any official biography for the band.

The band never managed to release a full length LP. They were first included on the "Formatii Pop vol. 2" compilation released in 1976 with the track "Visul". The full details of the release are available on Discogs:

And here is this track:

Two years later they released they first and only single/EP with 2 excellent tracks "Caut nume" and "Miezul noptii".

Here are the release details on discogs:

This record truly is a
collector's item - it took me a long time to find a copy of this vinyl in a condition decent enough to allow me to create a proper rip.

Here are the 2 tracks from this single:

Caut nume:

Miezul noptii:

The only other material I could dig up is a live recording from the Sibiu Jazz Festival, 1981:

I know there's not much material left from this band but I do think the quality of this material grants the band the right to be at least discussed here and hopefully included on the site for other people to discover.

Thanks!

Thanks for that! Smile

Just as extra info - one of the band members, Corneliu Cristei, is still active today and releasing albums. I see you have one listed here already:

thanks,

it looks like Irina Popa album participating Corneliu Cristei, more pop-vocals work (but you can hear jazzy arrangements for sure)

Here is "cleaned up" version  of the translation Google made out of her Romanian Wikipedia page:

Luiza Irina Popa (born February 13, 1988, Galaţi) is a Romanian singer who was noticed at "Mamaia Music Festival 2008" where she won the trophy. Her first stage appearance was at 5 years as member of Strumphi Group of the Kids Club.

At age 14, her first audition with Nae Leonard theater allows her to perform in her first show for young talents.

In 2003 she won first prize at the festival "Unknown  Constellation” in Vaslui, and during the same year she managed to win the Trophy for festival ' Mini-Mega-Star ' in  Braila.

In 2004 she won the festival in Amara.

During the winter of 2006 she filmed a video clip for a  'Silent Night' cover and she appeared on the “Cantecele pentru bradut “ Christmas compilation.

Irina was strongly supported by Stefan Baiatu and Marian Proca, the latter inviting her to sing in local jazz and blues shows. Another supporter was Mr. Alexandru Jula, who had great faith in her talent and invited her to guest on his shows 'Alexandru Jula and friends'.

In 2008 Irina Popa won both the Trophy of the “Mamaia Festival” and the Media Award, managing to accumulate the highest score from the judges with the song 'For Your Love’ by Adrian Ordean.

In 2009 Irina Popa collaborated with the band Amadeus, providing vocals for songs “Love in Sicilia”, “Bailando Con Migo”, and “Blue Eyes” from the band’s album “24 Hours”.

In 2011 Irina together with longtime collaborator and friend, pianist Cornel Cristea, recorded an electro jazz album, entitled “The Dream”.

In 2012, the Irina Popa Quartet (with Cornel Cristei - piano, Virgil Popescu – bass and Titi Herescu – drums) performed during the Sibiu Jazz Festival, the most famous Jazz Festival in Romania.

Some of the songs she performs during her shows are composed by Bass Production team (composers Sebastian Crayn and Andre Rizo), Ciprian Blaga and Cornel Cristea, others are covers of international standards.
