Ezra Collective, Archie Shepp, Underground Resistance, Steam Down, Floating Points, Kenny Dope, Greentea Peng, Mr Scruff and more assemble in August 2020 for Giles Peterson’s Cambridge festival

We Out Here, the jazz and electronica festival founded by club and BBC Radio 6 Music DJ Gilles Peterson, is to return for a second year.

Once again co-curated by Peterson, his label Brownswood and radio station Worldwide FM, the four-day event will be held between 20 and 23 August in Abbots Ripton, Cambridgeshire.

The eclectic line-up so far includes legendary saxophonist Archie Shepp, performing with a big band, along with Detroit’s Underground Resistance, presenting their ‘high-tech jazz’ show. Further highlights include new jazz pioneers Ezra Collective; 2019 breakout star Greentea Peng; London collective Steam DownCykada; Leafcutter John; and Tessela and Truss’ live duo, Overmono. Special showcases shine a light on more far-reaching scenes including a collaboration with Night Dreamer Records with Turkish psy-folk-funk-electronic acts Baba Zula and Island Man performing alongside iconic vocalist Selda.

An emphasis on discovery is reflected in the festival’s Future Bubblers partnership with Arts Council England. Rising talent such as KinkaiNumb MobKiddus and Iman Houssein, among others, will be given a platform to reach new, wider audiences.

As well as the aforementioned musical acts, there’s also an accent on club culture, with DJ sets from Floating Points, Peterson, Mr Scruff, James Lavelle and Josey Rebelle. The festival also offers audiophile listening experiences, an independent record fair and a food programme featuring leading London restaurants.
