Gregory Porter confirms new album 'All Rise' and reveals first track

Gregory Porter has announced that his sixth studio album will be called ‘All Rise’ and released on Decca / Blue Note Records this April 17th. This morning, Jazz FM had a first play of the new single which is titled ‘Revival’.

Following on from his 2017 album ‘Nat King Cole and Me’, this new project sees the Grammy-winning singer return to original songwriting with help from British production team Oli Rockberger and Troy Miller. In fact, the album was recorded here in the UK with an 8-piece band and a 10-strong choir.

"Yes, you could say that I went big," says Gregory, “For me, it’s the message of walking into this life and having some fear and self-doubt, and the point where you grab onto something that you know is real, the silent and real things, the truth… Once you can wrap onto the truth then this fearlessness comes.”

At the same time, the announcement comes today that Gregory Porter will return to the Cheltenham Jazz Festival with an opening night show and he will be reprising his role as Artistic Curator. The event runs from the 5th of May before Gregory’s full UK tour kicks off on the 9th.

Other confirmed acts for Cheltenham announced this morning include American singer Lizz Wright, trumpeter Keyon Harrold, UK sextet Maisha, legendary saxophonist Gary Bartz and Jazz FM Award-winning drummer Makaya McCraven.
