In its 50th birthday year, the legendary Stax record label is putting together a video series reflecting on classic albums and iconic artists who recorded in the city of Memphis, in fact it’s being produced in partnership with the Tennessee tourism board. Each episode - aired via YouTube - will revolve around a particular album or group including the likes of Booker T Jones, The Staple Singers and the Bar-Kays. Special 180 gram vinyl reissues are also being released by Stax in tandem with each episode in the series, which they’re calling the Memphis Masters.
